Kyle was a sexy young software developer fresh out of college when he moved to be closer to his mom and sister. His new stepfather John’s brother offered him a job with his company. Kyle had one goal, and that was to impress his new Uncle Ethan and prove that he was worth the risk of hiring him.
Jenny was the assistant of Gavin, one of John’s very good friends. She’d started working for Gavin’s company right out of high school, and he’d quickly become dependent on her. Over the years, she’d also become one of the family and a great friend of Gavin’s wife.
Kyle knew he wanted to get married and have a family one day, but he wanted to build a life he knew he would be proud of before even thinking about getting into a relationship. There was only one problem. As soon as he laid eyes on her, he couldn’t get her out of his mind.
Gavin made a point of letting Kyle know every chance he got that Jenny was completely off limits. There was no way Kyle wanted to upset or offend his new stepfather or any of his friends after they had taken him into their group and treated him like family.
For five years, she was all he thought about. He’d seen her at work, at family functions, and even watched her say “I do” to another man. When he found out about her divorce, he was relieved. Kyle knew she didn’t have feelings for him, but that didn’t stop his heart from wanting her.
He’d worked hard and built a life he was proud of. Kyle had a beautiful home and had become half owner in a billion dollar company. His life was perfect. There was only one thing missing, the woman he loved. The one woman he wanted was the only one he could never have.
When his mom called to talk him into going on vacation for a week with his family, he thought it would give him a chance to get Jenny out of his head. He planned to spend time in the sun with his niece and nephews during the day and go to the bar down the beach at night. It was going to be the perfect opportunity to get his head together.
He had his head back and his eyes closed, as he soaked up the sun and fresh air of beautiful Hawaii. It was going to be a great week. His body was just beginning to relax when he heard a laugh come from down the beach. It was a laugh he could never forget. When he opened his eyes, he saw her. The one person he was running away from was right there in front of him.
Could Kyle keep his feelings to himself and stay away from her, or would he let those feelings get in the way?
When the time came to go home, could he pretend as if the little time they spent together hadn’t mattered?
When something happened to Jenny, could he go on as normal, or would he put it all out there and risk losing her forever?
