Valerie has known Shawn for as long as they could remember. The two have been best friends since they were little and are ultimately responsible for Valerie’s mother and Shawn’s father getting married. Before the marriage, life was great. Still, she had a bright hope of the two of them staying friends. After all, who doesn’t want their best friend to move in and become family? However, her dreams of having a complete, happy family were dashed within a year and now, she is struggling to even keep their friendship together.
Shawn liked his father a lot before he got married. They were friends and he never put pressure on him, but the second he tied the knot, all that changed. Whether it was directly related, or circumstantial, Shawn didn’t know, but he was sure that he hated everything about what his life had become. He even grew to resent his stepsister, simply because his father treated her better and he hated himself for it.
However, when Shawn moves back in with his absentee mother, secrets, the possibility of lost love and family turmoil is paramount. When the pressure grows to be too great, tempers and passions flair as the fire of love and commitment scourges through the family.
When the smoke clears, will Valerie and Shawn finally find one another, will they remain friends forever, or will any semblance of a relationship between them be reduced to ash, leaving only a memory?
